Just been hit with a 30 day ban on Facebook for supposed "Hate Speech".
I posted a picture of Sgt Major William from It Aint Half Hot Mum with
the caption "Never Before have I seen such a blatant display of Poofery"
Posted this same meme dozens of times in the past, never had a problem.
Now suddenly its hate speech?
Nearly got banned a couple of months back for making a joke about
Hitler's Birthday. Fortunately they relented after I appealed. Best part
of it though, I made the EXACT SAME JOKE 2 years previously without any problem????
I know Bod had a joke post about Hitler removed over Xmas, and I've had similar "spicy" memes taken down as have other friends who have had joke images and posts removed for breaching their "community guidelines",
which are so loosely defined and open to such wide interpretation it's difficult to know which side you are going to fall on if you make a dumb
joke or express an unpopular opinion.
Seems a lot of the problem is down to these automated bots, that flag up certain words. And what with current media hysteria about the rise of
the "far right", social media companies are becoming increasingly over-zealous.
The only problem is, it seems anyone to the right of Joseph Stalin is
classed as "far right" these days.
I know people can argue that its a private platform and they can impose whatever restrictions on it they like. But when so many people are
dependant on social media for keeping in contact with their friends, promoting clubs, buisinesses or finding out about local events. It's
almost like being excluded from the town square.
Thank goodness we still have places like this to fall back on.
Perhaps I should join 4-Chan?

How do they suspect you are not using your real name?
presumably i annoy someone with an outrageous comment and they report me
in the hope that something, anything will get rid of me.
