The Most Read Book on the Vietnam War: CANNON FODDER: GROWING UP FOR
    VIETNAM http://www.americanwarlibrary.com/a44/cf.htm

That jogs the old memory: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5iAC21twmI

When my turn came, my draft# was FIVE (5)! The next morning I was at an Air Force recruiters office.

Back then the Marines were so hard-up for "a few good men" that they started taking draftees. This was no figment of a screenwriter's imagination: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_1Km9hRWgc. In the long run it was a
disaster. Most of the boots washed out of basic training. No doubt the Corps wishes they would burn the negative...

That looks like a good read. A great novel that is about the war in Viet
Nam is 'the short timers'. About a US marine caught up in the shit. They(Kubrik)made a movie based on the novel called 'Full Metal Jacket'.
    An excellent book.

Had me another memory jog this morning when I logged on to YT:

    1) Go to YouTube

    2) Look up "The most terrifying sounds of the Vietnam War".

The last time I saw that pic https://i.ytimg.com/vi/k3LI0OtCw9o/maxresdefault.jpg

was on the cover of Life magazine in 1967: https://2neat.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Life-Magazine-1967-10-27.jpg

Most people remember the siege of Khe Sanh. Does anyone remember Con Thien?

a good friend of ours who lost a beautiful wife we believe, as a
consequence of Vietnam flashbacks, suffered so greatly because of the deviousness of the leaders of the country requiring the oil in the south seas of Vietnam, that he turned to being a
caretaker at a church. So, God bless him, and all the brave souls who fought in Vietnam.
