2 issues at stake here: they were either involved or not.

if involved there's another 2 issues: deliberate or not.

if deliberate: was it only deliberate in delaying the news because of
national security issues/embarrassment etc (bad enough + still likely to
be costly for them)

or deliberate in the sense that they deliberately withheld the news
knowing it would damage western interests (we wont consider the willful
release of a deadly pathogen meant to bring the western world to it knees
as in some kinda bio-war movie; that's a potential ww3 scenario!)

one last item heh...

IF it's all been totally accidental/inadvertent on china's part (i.e., the virus arose by itself in the wet-markets and the worst china is guilty of
was in merely delaying announcing a new virus due to political reasons
etc: the best case scenario...) then is this situation perhaps then just
being 'used' to deliberately damage china in the eyes of the world, the
west taking 'advantage' of the situation to cripple china because they're
an economic competitor anyway and this would be a good way to fuck them
up: china the scapegoat! china wouldn't take kindly to being falsely
accused and fined for example!

i mean, the 'last' thing this world needs right now is a war with china,

cells of the body with the new/replacement code required, viruses being
very efficient at delivering said payload to every cell... e.g., as a
treatment for cancer, and/or as a vaccine for aids, all of which is
bona-fide scientific research that we're all involved in doing...

with germ warfare on many occasions during ww2 (they actually did that!) unleashing untold misery & suffering upon them...

so we'll just have to wait and see what, if anything, really happened with covid-19 ;)
