I believe the current is 3.17c and the next increment would likely be 3.20 or even the proposed 4.0 ...

I try not to predict these things because priorities and plans change, but I don't anticipate a jump to 3.20 and certainly not to 4.0.
Rather than the "fix all the things with no concern for backwards compatiblity" ideas I had for 4.0, I've chosen to take a more measured approach. I'm not sure there will ever be a 4.0. <shrug>

when people were, like "hey, you said you'd release a new version, where is it?" type stuff ... so to leave this topic alone all I will say is "keep up the great work and thank you for all you and the other dev team contributors do and especially for providing a very powerful, user freiendly FREE suite of services"

I don't remember Digital Man saying he's only going to release 3 more versions of Synchronet and then quit?

Yes, I appreciate that Synchronet is actively maintained and is freely available. And even though it might be a little while between new 'official' releases, you can always take the latest development binaries & updates, since things are being updated very often. One example is that the message voting & polls, and the user avatars, were added at least a year before Synchronet 3.17 was 'officially' released.

well he told me a while ago that 3.20 would be the final version. so
that means what happens after? he quits then.
Yup, I understand, odd how this topic keeps coming up in the threads, personally, over the past 25 years have never been in a hurry to see a new release, and am always happy to see improvements ... it always bothered me when people were, like "hey, you said you'd release a new version, where is it?" type stuff ... so to leave this topic alone all I will say is "keep up the great work and thank you for all you and the other dev team contributors

He said he's not sure there will ever be a 4.0. That doesn't
necessarily mean there definitely won't be. Who knows if plans will change.

I think just enjoy what we have and whatever comes down the pipe. There's regular updates (I must update myself one of these days). I don't care what the version number is, as long as it works (more or less! :) ).

Yeah, a lot of people seem confused on this point, but running 32 bit apps on a 64 bit OS is pretty standard. It's only kernel mode drivers that have to be 64 bit.
