• Duplicate nodelist entries

From kateflower@21:2/123 to All on Friday, September 21, 2018 05:57:53
    Hi,

Something odd has happened. When I attempt to post a message to a given address, say 21:1:/100 I get presented with 2 address in the result list.
    Which means I cannot post.

I did a quick check in the nodelist.txt and find all the entries are duplicated. Once removing one of the duplicates everything works. Except... during the night the zombie duplicate entries returned! Darn it.

how is the nodelist.txt generated? What might be the cause of the duplicates?

I recently upgraded to A39, maybe something is wobbly with the configuration now.

    Thanks!
    Kate

Well it is created when you run the nodelist function in mutil so I expect
it's an over night maint.ini running that would be creating the new nodelist.

I recall this issue with a Linux version of Mystic and it may have also happened with my Windows version at one stage.

Can you share your mergenodelist stanza here?

    Strange I run both A39 win32 & a39 linux 64 and both seem fine.

Can you share your mergenodelist stanza here?

Question wouldn't you want to look at her fsx nodelist file also?

I had this happen to me also on a39 win32, what I did to solve it was delete the nodelist.txt in the data directory then re-run mutil to create a new one. As far as I can tell it only happened once...

    Thanks for everyone's help.

I found the problem. In my mutil.ini file I had duplicate entries in the [MergeNodeLists] section as:

    nodefile=/opt/mystic/files/fsx_FSX_NODE/FSXNET nodefile=/opt/mystic/files/fsx_FSX_NODE/fsxnet

funny. I wonder how that got in there.

    Thanks everyone!

This is what I thought the problem might be Kate and why I'd asked to see the stanza. At one stage there was a bit of a problem for nodes running Linux dealing with the uppercase nodelist I was hatching out. If they had line two above only Mystic would not register the nodelist file I was hatching, so the line 1 was being added by some nodes as a catch all.

The g00r00 changed the function so that the nodefile= was not case sensitive. So then the above entry would cause what you were experiencing. As it was effectively compiling things twice over.

So that's the story behind this one :)

All is well thanks. Glad to be back. Actually what got me back were your
new videos, thanks for taking the time to make those. I hope I can finally
get my BBS a little bit more complete.

    Have a nice weekend.

Thank you :) You're most welcome. It's the weekend here in New Zealand and I have spent most of Saturday with my wife in the garden scoping out the
location for some raised vegetable gardens. Today we've bought the wood and
had it cut to the correct dimensions and then started to clear some space in the current garden to locate the two raised gardens we plan to build
    tomorrow.

My plan was to work on the next video tomorrow but truth be told I'll likely spend most of Sunday outside building stuff and shifting soil. :)

    Hi,

My body aches in areas I did not know I have - hahahah

Well, I just spent the weekend visiting various flea markets. They are rather popular here and each week there is a flea market in a different part of the city. Not too much pain expect on my feet :-)
