I guess SuperBBS isn't so super then! :(

There was a *massive* SuperBBS board in my area in the 90's that was very popular at the time. I think that software was kinda like Remote Access, it had its disciple followers.

I remember how there was a following for many different type of boards. i was always into Renegade, mostly for modifying..., and I think Mystic is kinda
like the Renegade of 2020... AND we have scripting... which is awesome. :P

I also liked some Synchronet boards, and Wildcat! ... TBBS was my favorite multi-node software, when multi-node wasn't the norm... there was a big
board, Omni-Link, where a lot of us younger BBSers would meet up and chat. :P

    Oh, the good ole days..

I stuck with Renegade since '94 and am likely the only remaining Renegade system left in the world. www.darkrealms.ca. Everyone else seems to of jumped ship to Mystic or Synchronet. The only other large RG system was the Titantic board which shut down several years ago.

I stubbornly remained on Y2KA2 as I did not like the direction of the newer releases. When I obtained the source code and started fixing/modding a bunch of stuff there was really no need to go further.

I too was a huge TBBS fan. I managed to build an archive of everything TBBS related that was up for grabs on tbbs.org... before it was shut down.

Searchlight was another of my favourites.

Both RA and SBBS were QuickBBS clones initially. So in a lot of ways they're quite similar. Locally no one seemed terribly parochial about one or the other, but would swap each time an update came out. I got fed up with that eventually and just stuck with Super.

My decision was driven by the additions coming along in newer updates weren't things I was going to use and sticking with one kept the modifications in upgrading to a minimum.

The SuperBBS board I mentioned in my original message had a lot of callers and was rarely ever down. In some weird way I learned some valuable lessons from Sysops who ran commercial boards or used stuff other than what I was running.

I stopped updating Renegade after Y2KA2 as I felt strongly that the newer releases were inferior garbage trying to be knockoffs of Searchlight. As in, lets focus on fancy lightbars instead of fixing longtime bugs in the code.

Awesome man... I certainl wish I had my BBS from back in the day, but I've
lost all the files. I had my RG board modded out really nice... without scripts, you know how we did wonders within menus.

What port - I just tried to logon to your bbs and a connect error.

Agreed, I do mostly everything with menus too although I never got too fancy. Theres something appealing to my callers about having somewhat of a stock RG system in some areas.

Port 23. I did have a slight blip with my Internet today.
