    Has anyone else noticed any difficulties in their nodes sending stuff? It seems

    like my hub can send me stuff, but I can not send anything over due to a likely socket error. I am using Internet Rex.

    So I have two questions about binkit.

    1) Does binkit support IPv6 outbound polling? The reason I ask, is I have an uplink that is using IPv6, but when I poll it, nothing happens:

    Attempting poll for node 1337:1/0@tqwnet
    JSBinkP/1.120 callout to 1337:1/0@tqwnet started
    connecting to 1337:1/0@tqwnet at hub.uk.zt.erb.pw
    Connecting to 1337:1/0@tqwnet at hub.uk.zt.erb.pw:24556
    Connection to hub.uk.zt.erb.pw:24556 failed.

    (The hub.uk.zt.erb.pw address is on ZeroTier (a VPN network) - and I can connect to it fine with nc)

    I updated sbbs.ini so that it had OutboundInterface = 0.0.0.0,:: but that didnt
    seem to change anything...

    2) How does binkit handle updated nodelists?

    I found out that in sbbsecho.ini, I need to have the full name of the nodelist for Nodelist=, ie
    [domain:tqwnet]
    Zones = 1337
    DNSSuffix =
    NodeList = ../fido/nodelist/tqwnet.169

    But when the nodelist gets updated, does the nodelist_handler.js update this to the current nodelist.
    (Sorry, havent had tics come in, and havent yet got my head around how synchronet handles tic files and special tic files like nodelists.)

    As far as I know, yes. But Deuce is really the IPv6 guy.

    Connection to hub.uk.zt.erb.pw:24556 failed.

    That "failed" is something.

    That host is apparently IPv6 only and I don't have IPv6 setup here, so I can't really test it. Deuce (you can find him in #synchronet at irc.synchro.net) is really the IPv6 guy, so he should be able to help.

    There's a module called tickit (http://wiki.synchro.net/module:tickit) which uses the nodelist_handler.js, again, Deuce. :-)

    You can create an IPv6 environment pretty easily using ZeroTier. (I'm happy to help if you are interested.)

    So while your ISP provider doesnt offer IPv6 (mine doesnt), you can have a private IPv6 network (which is what we use in TQWnet for the hubs.)

    change that extension to .txt... when you get tickit working and have the nodelist_handler part in place, the handler will extract the nodelist from the archive and put it in the given directory with the given name... if you use numbers like above, they won't match after you get the second one because they'll all get that name... if you need help with tickit, just ask... that's one of the first things i went digging into... i'm a filegate hub and needed it
    to work a little better than it was ;)

    Ahh, awesome. Tks I'll give it a go...

    FWIW: here's my (very similar to the wiki example) config in tickit.ini for the
    fidonet *daily* nodelist...

    [DAILYLIST]
    [...]
    Handler=tickit/fidonet-nodelist_handler.js
    HandlerArg={"domain":"fidonet", "match":"Z1DAILY.Z*", "nlmatch":"Z1DAILY.*"} [...]

    then in sbbsecho.ini there's this bit in the domains section...

    [domain:fidonet]
    Zones = 1,2,3,4,5,6
    DNSSuffix = binkp.net
    NodeList = /sbbs/ftn/nodelist/fidonet.txt

    the NodeList line contains the final name for the extracted nodelist file... this is where and what nodelist_handler copies the file it extracted to...

    note that i copied the original nodelist_handler.js to fidonet-nodelist_handler.js because i have more than one FTN and need to do this for all of them so each will have its own nodelist_handler...

    the main reason i've copied nodelist_handler.js to other names is because i need each one to also execute a different command line after the file is successfully extracted and copied... this additional command line execution capability does not yet exist but its purpose is to compile the nodelist into a
    binkd compatible form with another tool... in my case, this additional command line capability is to compile the nodelist into a binkd format so binkd is automatically updated when the new nodelist arrives and is updated...

    this may all change and the copying to other handler names may not be needed if/when the original nodelist_handler.js comes up with an easy method of defining this additional command line capability... i understand it is currently being looked at and developed :)
