Seems so; baseball isn't as much of a draw for youngsters as
it used to be.
Dunno, maybe the suburban kids are still into it...
From what I've seen, basketball is still the game that draws most of
the kids.
a number of recreation areas scattered around the city,
that have a number of choices of games, probably including
baseball...
Still, nothing like a neighborhood pick up game...
You need a certain number of kids for that... and, as I said, it
could be happening at the neighborhood recreation centers... :)
We used to have adults playing games with the kids some nights. No set teams, join whichever one needed players. Played until it got too dark
to see the ball.
spinach, kale, sweet potatoes, an apple gallette and another
pastry (forget what right now). Also were given a couple of
good sized hot cross buns to try an experiment--making bread
pudding-- out of them and letting that vendor know how it
turned out.
That sounds like a nice haul.. :)
T'was, and the bread pudding turned out quite well. I found an
easy recipe on the All Recipies site and gave it a try,
definately a keeper. I may have put in more raisins than it
called for but.... (G)
That sounds good... hard to have too many raisins in things, to
my mind... ;) How did the vendor like the bread pudding...?
It's still in our freezer; we had choir practice last week during
market time and couldn't get it to her. Maybe tomorrow, if it's not dumping down rain (forecast is for lots of cold rain) at market time.
That's a good size.. ;) Not too big, but big enough to be
useful... :) You might even make quick breads in it... or
mini-loaves of regular bread... :)
Probably so, have to try it some time soon.
Once you have a bit of time available.. ;)
Don't hold your breath while looking for a report. (G)
Nope, I know better... ;) But eventually, you'll try it, and
then you'll give your report.... ;)
Sooner or later. It does do a good job of the tasks we've asked it to
do so far.

TBD, she makes a lot of other goodies for the market.
Never hurts to add a new one from time to time.... or just to
make at home with the leftovers that didn't sell at market...
Maybe so, if she's not burnt out from other baking and jam
making.
True. :)
She does a variety of baked goodies in addition to the jams so
she's always busy.
And also might like a change from some of the regular stuff,
I'd guess... ;)
Maybe so. Her jams win blue ribbons at the state fair, don't know if
she submits baked goods there. She has a habenero mango(?) that I've bought and used as a glaze on baked chicken.
Very much so; Steve made sourdough biscuits in it last night.
Also a useful thing... :)
True--starter needed using so the small oven was good for baking
biscuits.
A small enough quantity that it would fit in the smaller oven... :)
Baked in 2 batches, some went on the road with us but are now gone.
We could always make something like the sandwich rounds. (G)
I was just thinking that the smaller loaves you'd just cut
differently than the large ones for sandwiches.... but the
sandwich rounds are an even better idea... :)
They are very handy but one company recently started making
them a bit larger. That means more carbs per round so we're
not going to get those unless there's no other choice.
But if you make your own, you can make them the size you
want... :)
True, have to figure out how to get them a uniform size/shape
tho. (G)
I'm sure it would only take a bit of figuring and
experimenting... :)
A bit of tinkering here and there. Might try to come up with a cutter
to get them a uniform shape/size.

No, still in SW. Transitioning mid week but it's a 2 day trip so later next week we will be able to have an in person concert.

They weren't at the market this past Saturday so couldn't check
on the habenero jelly status.
No breeze, high humidity...? That's when the fans come on...
and one stays out of the kitchen... (G)
She probably has some sort of cooling system going. Steve says she was
at the market this week but I didn't go, had other things to do.
We're still hot and humid also, with heat advisories and pop up
showers. That cold front is supposed to give us a high of 79 on
Saturday--good day for baking.
We did get our cold front come in, just in time for our trip...
and our annual picnic had lovely sunny and cooler weather... :)
The heat came back, but not nearly so bad... and we are due for
another 70s day Wednesday.... :)
We had a beautiful day for our church picnic on Sunday also.
Rained a lot on Saturday but blew off by late afternoon, leaving
temps in the low 80s/very low humidity for Sunday. Still, a lot
of watermelon was eaten. (G)
It's wet and cool... ;)
Yes, and very popular in July & August.
This week is our church's Music Camp... the forecast is for
sunny days all week, with high temps fluctuating between the 80s
and that cooler day in the middle... :) Sounds pretty decent...
Hopefully all went well on your end as well.
It did indeed.... and today was the hottest day, but it was
survivable... ;)
Maybe you've had your hottest days for the year now?

Hopefully. That one week with highs all week in the upper 90s was
pretty brutal... we've still had days that went into the 90s, but
they've been only one at a time... mostly we've been getting highs in
the 80s, with the occasional day (so far Wednesdays) only in the
70s... We still have August to go through, though... who knows... :)

I'm hoping that August will be cooler than normal this year, but not putting any money on the possibility. Not doing any put ups will make
it seem cooler, even if it isn't, really. (G)

True.... not doing putups means not heating up the kitchen quite so badly... :) I'll be happy if we just stay out of the 90s and get cool nights.... :)
