fond of the Crippled Bear, north and ?west
of downtown, which is a dive bar with
    surprisingly good food.
I will have to go try it one of these days. The James is pretty good
    food and
the service is good, plus it being just a short walk from the elevator (I always wind up with a room on the fifth floor), it is nice when I want something to eat and don't have to go far. Like I said earlier, there
    is the
Perkins next door to the hotel (well, next door to the Hampton Inn
    which is
next door to the Holiday Inn). Though the big Wegman's next to Perkins probably has some good eatin's in it too.

I wan't inclined to go to any Perkins, preferring
Bob Evans for that kind of food (used to like
Cracker Barrel in the last century, but it's
changed). There are a few nonchain places that
Annie or her brother used to drag me to for
breakfast, but I don't remember the names except
for Donna's, which was fun, about a mile from
    your hotel.

It's down to 3.49 at Costco near Lilli's.
It's floated up to around $2.70 this week.

It's further down to $3.39 according to Gas Buddy
(I'm back on the east coast, Lilli is in China).

What OS are you running, and do you use a
    DOS emulator?
I am running Slackware 64 Linux 14.2. I use DOSbox for the emulator for MealMaster though I also can use DOSemu (DOSbox is much smaller and
    easier to
use for this purpose). I also have Windows 10 in a virtual machine
    (VMware)
    if I need it.

Ah. I'm still (probably perpetually will be)
feeling my way blindly around those.

HP Streams are good computers. I just prefer Linux (Chrome OS is based
    off of
Gentoo Linux from what I have read). Google is adding Linux to be "sideloaded" (in a virtual machine) in Chrome OS later this year which
    is why
I haven't dispatched the Chromebook yet. The Chromebook has no moving
    parts
save for the CPU fan which is good. The Lenovo Chromebook I have is ruggedized and is larger and heavier than a regular Chromebook but it can survive some rough treatment.

The Stream has gotten some hard use, most
recently by a friend dropping my carryon on
the floor from a substantial height. I'm
hoping it does okay for a good while longer.

No recipe right now (remoted into the BBS) but I did go to our local
    Tupelo
Honey Cafe in Johnson City last night. Several people from the corporate office are visiting, including my boss and a co-worker of mine, so they invited me to have dinner. It was quite nice. It's a bit spendy for my tastes but you do get a lot of food for the money. I had the "grilled Patagonia salmon" dish. It had quinoa, roasted cauliflower, a lightly
    spicy
chile spread on it. It was good enough for me to want to spend $30 for
    the
dinner and a soda again. I'd like to take my parents there some time.

Again, no need to stress about recipes or lack
of same. Reporting on your meals is for me at
least more pleasing to see than some random
    recipe from nowhere.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v7.07

I think I've heard of that place but I think it's closed by the time I get off work. There is a Cracker Barrel that's a few miles east of the hotel (I ate at CB then; it's at the Lycoming Mall IIRC). I saw a Bob Evans on the way up there but IIRC it's a good distance from Williamsport.

Ouch. The Lenovo Chromebook I have is a "hardened" version. It's a good bit thicker and heavier than a standard Chromebook.

I don't get out too much to new places to eat. I'm too much of a creature of habit though Tupelo Honey Cafe would be somewhere I'd go on a date or taking my parents out to dinner. Just for me alone I'd not bother to spend that much money. But that salmon dish was pretty darn tasty and had just the right amount of warmth for me and my health these days.

Some good news: the change in jobs has helped me. As of May 14, my A1C has dropped from 14% to 11% and my triglyceride count has dropped 1500 points to 394 (yes, it was that high). I was taken off of the statin drug I was on and was encouraged to keep working on my blood sugar. I've quit drinking soda save for one at lunch. I am now drinking unsweetened naturally flavored sparkling water. I've discovered that the Bubly brand (spelled correctly and so far only seen at Walmart) is quite tasty for me, especially the cherry flavor. It's much more refreshing than soda. I'm still trying to drink more regular water also.

    Later,
    Sean
