If it doesn't become a Procrustean bed,
equality is something to be aimed for.
    Inflammatory rhetoric aside, there's
nothing wrong with liberating every sort
of people to more or less the same degree.
But really, not a good [lace to discuss this so I'll end it on my part.

Goes without saying, the other seafood part.
    Undoubtedly.
Wonder how many of their recipies have been writtten down and how many
just passed down as "a pinch of this" or "a handful of that" type

To be fair, one can have both at once; I am a
little distrustful of recipes that are too detailed
    and prescriptive.

cooking. My handful would be much different than Steve's but if
proportions were all kept in equal ratios, the dish would turn out the
    same for both of us.

For recipes that are relatively loosey-goosey like
that, there shouldn't be a problem. For me, a
handful would be about 1/3 cup - maybe half a cup
if it was an ingredient I particularly favored.

the last year. In my case the manifestation is
an inability to cross-reference names and faces.
Evereyone seems to have a touch of it, but for
me now it's become a practical problem.
I would think, with your vision issues, it would be an issue. You'll
just have to train yourself for better voice recognition, as one of my
    blind friends in college did.

Oh, no problem with that - that's how I cope
under normal circumstances anyway. It was a
little scary the other day, because my failing
eyesight made me conjure up Nicholas (deceased)
and Don Quimby (also deceased); also Tony and
Marcus, both of whom I knew would be absent. Of
course, it turned out to be people who vaguely
    and superficially resembled those.

The liquid residuum issue is valid, but the amount
of waste would appear to me to be insignificant
compared to that intrinsic in the plastic tubs
with tasty-looking pillows inside (not to say
anything about the cost). Powders, it all rests
on how much sacrifice you're willing to undertake
for the sake of ecology and savings. Thinking back
on last time I used powders, my guess would be an
added cost of at most ten seconds using the powder.
I'll stick with the tablets; they weigh a lot less than a big box of
powder. The weight factor is a big consideration for me.

The way I'd cope would be to get Stephen to decant
a box of powder into maybe pint containers, which
    would be more manageable.

I'd rather dishwasher wash with no detergent at
all than one of the pillows.
Does it matter what brand is used?

So far as I've eperienced, all of the pillows
stink. Most liquids but not all powders do as
well. If it were up to me, something labelled
    fragrance-free would be the ideal.

That is not an endorsement for everyday overuse
of the stuff. Toxic waste cleanup is an emergency
situation. I question, too, that the net effect of
using the stuff is beneficial at all. Do the
rescued animals go on to live a normal life
(doubtful), and what's the eventual effect of all
that additional cleanser on the local ecology (I'm
    betting on negative).
Ask a scientist, not me. (G)

It's doubtful that scientists have explored
this avenue yet - not just because they're
shortsighted (largely true), but such a study
    would not be financially profitable.

    Title: Crusty Cheddar Bread
This looks good but I'd use extra sharp cheese, whole wheat flour and
    maybe a bit of mustard.

On, yeah, the sharpest Cheddar available.
    Mustard, well, maybe.

    Spiced Chutney dressing
    categories: salad, alternative
    yield: 1 batch

    2 Tb mango chutney
    2 Tb lime juice
    1/2 ts ground cumin
    1/2 ts salt
    1/4 c hemp seed oil

Whisk first 4 ingredients together. Gradually whisk in
    1/4 c hemp seed oil.

    Hi Michael,

If it doesn't become a Procrustean bed,
equality is something to be aimed for.
    Inflammatory rhetoric aside, there's
nothing wrong with liberating every sort
of people to more or less the same degree.
But really, not a good place to discuss this so I'll end it on my
    part.

Goes without saying, the other seafood part.

To be fair, one can have both at once; I am a
little distrustful of recipes that are too detailed
    and prescriptive.

Some people can only cook that way.

cooking. My handful would be much different than Steve's but if proportions were all kept in equal ratios, the dish would turn out

For recipes that are relatively loosey-goosey like
that, there shouldn't be a problem. For me, a
handful would be about 1/3 cup - maybe half a cup
if it was an ingredient I particularly favored.

My handful is probably about a quarter cup, maybe 1/3. If it were an
ingredient I liked, and it didn't matter to the recipe, I'd add a bit
more also--like kicking up the spicing on a number of things.

the last year. In my case the manifestation is
an inability to cross-reference names and faces.
Everyone seems to have a touch of it, but for
me now it's become a practical problem.

As long as those people weren't offended--realising your visual problems
lead to a "whoops, you're not who I thought you were" moment.

The liquid residuum issue is valid, but the amount

I'm still sticking with the tablets, and will understand if you rinse
    dishes before using them.

I'd rather dishwasher wash with no detergent at
all than one of the pillows.
Does it matter what brand is used?

    I've been sticking with Finish.

So far as I've eperienced, all of the pillows
stink. Most liquids but not all powders do as
well. If it were up to me, something labelled
    fragrance-free would be the ideal.

These are sealed in a dissolving wrap, very little smell to them. But
yes, fragrance free would be best.

    Mustard, well, maybe.

It adds just a bit of something extra. I usually add a bit of spicy
brown mustard (the main one we buy) to macaroni & cheese.
