Yeah, that could be important, too... :)
Not to mention British "Antiques Alley" shows on Youtube.

That, and it's educational. I pick up all sorts of bits and pieces that make antique dealers think I know a lot more than they do. :-)

And that help you get a better deal...

Yep. Look at a piece of silver or furniture that's been "upgraded" at a
later date (i.e. decorated within an inch of its life) and call it
    "clobbered" and watch what happens.

But ants are more of a hive mind... ;)

They can indeed be nice... I'm using them now... ;)

Even five percent off adds up.

And often they can be 10%... One chinese buffet we go to, it's just $1
off each senior meal, which is less than 10%, but still helps some...
The fairly new one we've gone to gives a free drink (soda, coffee, tea)
to seniors plus has special pricing for them, I think maybe a tad more
    than 10%...

Most yes. My current one can't jump for beans, but Max did it when he was young. He once got himself a crow after it was in the air. He didn't get to keep it, but he got up there.

ask, saying that you'll be a senior soon enough... (G) Sometimes the

A friend of mine was asked if he wanted the senior discount at
    the
movies once. He was about 40 at the time, but his moustache was close to white. I'd never seen a French Canadian dude without
    a
    moustache before.(LOL)
You mean he took action and shaved off the offender....? ;) So
    vanity
    trumped savings... ;)

Exactly. Shaved that puppy off the same afternoon in fact. He
    told
this story on himself later, so even he thinks it's funny. Now he's pretty much completely gray and doesn't care any more.

And, I trust, is happily making use of senior discounts when they are offered... :)

He's still not 55, so being the disgustingly honest type probably not.

It's even better if there are moles around. They don't stick
    around for long!

interest in the outdoors is to sit in the window and observe...
probably smells as well as sounds and sights... ;)
Mostly smells is my guess. Since they have a good food source
and a nice place to sleep indoors, they see no need to go out.
When it's the open window, yes, smells probably figure in highly...
but they'll also sit in a closed window, just observing things...
watching squirrels, birds, other cats, etc...

I had one who wanted to chase deer. They're herbivores, and
    herbivores are catfood.

That would have been a sight to see... ;)

hyperactive and needed to run. The house would have been torn

If she like the outdoors, more power to her... ;) We've had some indoor-outdoor cats, one or two that really more outdoor cats, and
a number of totally indoor cats... :)

Mine have all been indoor-outdoor until this one.

It is a different mindset, to be sure... ;)

    hat would do it... :)

I keep waiting for my bobcat to come back. Ruthie wanna
    bobcat in
    her back yard!

There, there... I'm sure the bobcat will be back eventually.... ;)

I haven't seen him/her since they built a house in back of me. The
groundhog however has taken up residence. He has a nice warm, safe
hole under my tool shed. It's up on cinderblocks, because
foundations under sheds require permits, and the space is too small
    for coyotes and whatever.

When the tail starts swishing, may your hands be missing.
Some cats don't give you that much notice... ;)

Genie tends to. She was raised as a pampered house cat and
    doesn't
know much about street cat methods.

    That's a good thing for you.... :)

Same here, Ruth, I can't believe it sometimes.. we also recently moved the cat box downstairs in the basement so the two cats here do indeed go down there often.... but they don't give a hoot about the buggers (mice) down there. Now if they see them OUTSIDE, that's different and they'll bring them inside dead, perhaps for us to share? (eek)... :)

Same here, Ruth, I can't believe it sometimes.. we also recently
    moved the cat
box downstairs in the basement so the two cats here do indeed go
    down there
often.... but they don't give a hoot about the buggers (mice) down
    there. Now
if they see them OUTSIDE, that's different and they'll bring them
    inside dead,
perhaps for us to share? (eek)... :)

    Ah.

At that point it's habituated to humans, and that's not good for

Generally, folks who don't secure their garbage cans. That's
    bear bait.
And they'd rather the police be out getting the taillights... and
haven't figured out that the bears would go after the carrion if
they couldn't easily get into the garbage cans.... ;)
Thus killing two stones with one bear? It would clean up road
kill and keep the bears out of trouble.
But they won't secure the garbage cans, so the bears get distracted...

    And well-fed.

I bet the carrion would be healthier for the bears than the garbage cans, though... ;)

Probably. Fresh food generally is. Now tell the bear that.

All 18 pounds or so of him. Probably 20 now, from the way he can eat.
