suppose if one were merely thinking of it as smoked turkey, that

Of course it doesn't taste like real bacon. Neither does Canadian
Bacon. That is why I think that it is good in its own right and not as
a "substitute" for bacon. They are, despite having similar appearances
as thin slices, not the same product.
