From MICHAEL LOO@1:123/140 to DALE SHIPP on Monday, December 10, 2018 12:01:52
I seem to be seeing those two terms a lot lately, but have no real understanding of what they mean. Can you explain in simple terms?

They are very similar, largely overlapping
diet plans. The naming depends on whether you
focus on the historical underpinning or on the
supposed effect of the diet. The paleo diet is
supposed to consist of things humans could have
eaten in the paleolithic (therefore pre-farming)
    days, almost exclusively hunted-gathered foods,
raw or cooked over fire. So meat and unprocessed
vegetables, no grains. Keto is a high-fat diet
designed to put your body into ketosis, a state
where you burn fat instead of glucose. This diet
bans carbohydrate, so in addition to no farmed
grains, you can't have fruits of any kind or nuts
or legumes or carb-filled vegetables such as roots.

A paleo-keto diet is essentially just meat and fat
and leafy greens, with hard liquor allowed.

The first two have the possibility of at least letting the brain have a chance to work.... ;)
Sort of like Word Connect - not too hard, but
it gives some kind of satisfaction.
We have pretty much given up on Word Connect. We had gotten to level
2100 or so with 200K points. All of the words now seem to be at least
five letter, which is quite hard without spending lots of points.

Lilli uses her points and last I checked was at a
level approaching 3700 with just enough points to
get a clue or two. When I'm with her I work on
building up her bank by doing the various word
activities that earn them (much slower than watching
    ads or whatever).

And so, we discovered that they have a new version called Word Connect 2
and are starting out at ground level on that one.

In what way is it new and/or mproved?

Too bad Nancy does not have an Ipad -- she would most likely like WC.

Too bad I don't have a telephone at all!

Simple -- who needs a recipe for this?
    Title: Masar Dal
    1 1/2 c Red lentils
    3/4 ts Turmeric
    2 ts Salt
    5 tb Ghee
    6 lg Garlic cloves

Somebody who needs to build up the courage to
use that much garlic, I suppose. I would add a
whiff of cumin, coriander seed, and fenugreek.

    Keto custard
    categories: low-carb, diet, dessert
    servings: 4

    1/2 c almond milk
    1 c thickened cream
1 ts vanilla bean or 2 ts vanilla extract
    4 egg yolks
    1 ts xanthan gum
    1/3 c 3rythritol (SoNourished)

Combine milk and cream in a medium saucepan.

Using a sharp knife, split the vanilla bean in
half lengthways and scrap out seeds with the
back of the knife. Add vanilla seeds to the
milk and cream mixture. Bring the saucepan to
a simmer, stirring constantly for 5 min until
hot (do not allow to boil). Remove saucepan
    from the heat.

Whisk the egg yolks, xanthan gum, and erythritol
in a bowl, pour the warm milk mixture over the
    egg yolks, whisking constantly.

Return mixture to the saucepan over low heat,
and cook for 15 to 20 mins stirring constantly
until the mixture coats the back of a spoon.
    Serve warm or cold.

Sounds like your prefered diet, except for the greens. I wonder does
    such a thing as a blue leafy vegetable exist? :-}}

I build up the bank by letting the ads play, but don't watch them.

And so, we discovered that they have a new version called Word Connect 2
and are starting out at ground level on that one.

In what way is it new and/or mproved?

Slightly different only. Layout is different, but principle is still
    the same.

Sounds good. We have had an Indian curry based on fenugreek leaves and
    liked it.

Here is a recipe we have made and liked.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05

Title: Sausage and Lentil Soup (Carrabbas)
    Categories: Carrabbas, Testing, Copy cat
    Yield: 15 Servings

    1 tb Oil
    3/4 c Diced carrot
    1 c Ribs celery, diced
    1 lg Onion - chopped
    2 ea Garlic cloves, crushed
    1 1/4 lb Hot italian sausage -
    Removed from casing.
    8 1/2 c Chicken broth
Additional 14 oz can at end
2 cn 14 oz canned diced tomatoes
    1 lb Dried lentils

    MMMMM-------------------------SEASONINGS------------------------------
1 ts Salt (Did not add)
    3/4 ts Black pepper
1/2 ts Crushed red pepper flakes
    1/2 ts Oregano
    1/2 ts Thyme
    1 ts Fennel seeds
    1 ea Bay leaf.

45 minute prep.. Large crockpot done in 5 to 6 hours.

In large saucepan, heat oil over med high heat. Add carrot, celery,
onion and crushed garlic. Saute until tender.

Remove vegetables from the pan, and add one pound of hot Italian
sausage that has been removed from the casing. Brown the sausage and
    drain off the fat.

NOTE: I used 6 quart crockpot to cook the soup.

In Large stockpot, place 8 1/2 cups of chicken broth, the vegetables
and the cooked sausage meat. Add the two cans of diced tomatoes. Add
the dried lentils which have been washed according to package
    directions.

    Add seasonings (see above)

Simmer until the lentils are tender- 30 - 45 minutes. Make sure
    lentils are tender.

NOTE: With crockpot I cooked on high for 5 hours and lentils were
still not totally tender. Will cook 6 hours on high next time

Remove 1/2 of the soup and puree it using hand held blender and then
return it to the pot. Correct seasonings and remove bay leaf.

I did NOT puree any of the soup.

Very close to Carrabbas soup. Makes a large amount. Should freeze
    well. I will make again.

Spiceness of soup hinges closely to how hot the sausage is.

Variation of recipe found on the web.
