Yes - pistachio nuts taste like you know what; the ice
cream at least originally tasted like artificial almond.
Now it tastes like natural almond, somewhat better. Only
once have I had pistachio ice cream whose base tasted
    even vaguely of pistachio.
Most places I've had the ice cream it has almonds for the nuts in
pistachio flavored ice cream... But Friendly's makes it with real
pistachios in there... and I think the ice cream may be more
authentically pistachio as well... :) It doesn't clash with the real
    nuts, anyway... ;)

I've had pistachio ice cream that has been almond (or fake
almond) base with real pistachios beaten in: to me, that's
a waste of pistachios. On occasion I'd lick the ice cream
off the nuts and then eat the nuts separately. Or wait for
it to go all soupy the better to pick the nuts out.

I've this notion that most likely a distaste for the
one would predispose to a distaste for the other.
Dunno if that's true... as I said, I could try to remember to ask her sometime.... ;) In any case, I think I've known of some that don't like coffee at all, but are quite fond of chocolate.... which would tend to
    dispel your notion... :)

There are other offenses committed by coffee besides
    bitterness.

We're apparently not in a diplomatic phase of
history, but there have been a couple of
    surprises so far.
Guess we just have to wait and see...
I just hope that any damage is easily reparable, and
that's probably all I should say about it.
    Yeah... and agreed...
Balance strikes me as being a good thing. Most of the
time, anyway, and not for me.
Individual balance being less important in the scheme of things than
balance on a larger scale, perhaps.... ;)

    Individual imbalance affects just the individual;
institutional or collective imbalance affects everybody.

Maybe they'll solve that eventually... but at least instead they made strides in fixing the existing ones... and, to some extent, in transplants...
Got to have a generation of computer jock doctors
working on it first, without the money up front to
    be an incentive..
Or research docs with a passion for the search rather than the funds...
or perhaps a well-endowed philanthropist willing to fund the
    research.... :)

Still need those computer jock docs.

    Title: Roquefort Biscuits
    Categories: Appetizers, Breads, misfortune
    Servings: 36

    1 c Self-raising flour
    1/2 c Butter, well-chilled
    2 oz Roquefort
    -OR other blue-veined cheese
    2 oz Cheddar cheese, shredded
    1/2 c Sesame seeds
    Cucumber slices
    Cherries

Sift flour into a bowl. Using a pastry blender or 2 knives, cut in
    butter
    until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Crumble in Roquefort cheese;
    sprinkle in Cheddar cheese.

With your fingers, thoroughly mix ingredients to form a dough. Cover and
refrigerate. Place sesame seeds in a dry skillet, stir over medium heat
until golden. Remove from heat; cool. Preheat oven to 400 F (200 C).
Grease 2 baking sheets. Shape chilled dough into 36 equal balls. Toss
each ball in toasted sesame seeds, pressing balls flat to coat well with
    seeds.

Arrange balls on greased baking sheets and press lightly with a fork.
    Bake
10 minutes or until golden around edges. Cool on racks and store in an
airtight container. To serve, arrange on a plate and garnish with
    cucumber
    and cherries. Makes 36.

I suppose the ice cream makers don't think there's that much difference
between the two... and if it's colored green that will make it taste
    like pistachio sufficiently....?

But is it age, or debility/lack thereof, that makes the difference...?
