Blue Moon / on a hot day / was the best thing on tap there
Then I guess I ought to try one before dismissing it. I see that
I recommend it if it's free or cheap. It's
cleanly made and as I said a good thirst abater.
It's also as corporate as can be.
in Canada it's made by Molsons who actually export it successfully
Since it went away from the one-facility model
Coors has always had contract brewing agreements
with Molson even before it became Molson Coors.
Now Molson Coors is contracting with Miller Coors
(which I believe it has majority ownership of) to
do what Coors and then Molson Coors used to do.
I looked up the timeline and discovered that
Inbev took over Anheuser-Busch, and the resulting
company took over SAB Miller, with the antitrust
authorities requiring the new big big company to
divest of Coors and Miller, which went to Molson.
Makes me want to drink your Kokanee, but looking
that up I find it was gobbled up by Labatt (we
noted the identicality of the two offerings) which
was then swallowed into Anheuser-Busch Inbev. There's
nowhere else to go but the micros, which charge too
much and have a tendency to get eaten up as well.
into Europe. I will continue to ignore some of their sillier
spinoffs though, like Gingerbread Spiced Ale.
My friend bought me a six of Atomic Pumpkin ale,
which was less than perfect but at least had
dominant cinnamon and a bit of chile kick for
afters (it is brewed with Habaneros). Best of
all, it comes from a brewery I don't care for,
New Belgium, but which is still at least an
independent.
This article amused me as well as supporting my views on both potatoes
and kale:
French Fries Are More of a "Superfood" Than Kale
Ardent eaters of goji berries, blueberries, acai, and kale might be
surprised to learn that these foods do not magically grant health
and longevity.
I'm not so much of a potato fan, but you can make
them palatable in the same way you can make kale
edible - add lots of animal fat.
A truer superfood, one which provides almost everything the body
needs, is the humble potato. Packed with starch, fiber, and protein,
as well as vitamins and minerals, it may be the most complete food
on the planet. Cut one up and lightly fry the slices with a little
canola oil and a pinch of salt, and you've got yourself a healthful
feast!
Which others say is among the most pathogenic
of the Solanaceae, so choose your poison.

This site too has to be taken with a grain of salt.
The last of the grenadine rums and another Joe Robertson version of
a classic:
Title: Zombie
Categories: Alcohol, Beverages, Fruit
Yield: 1 serving
1 oz Light rum
1 oz Dark rum
1/2 oz Grenadine
1/2 oz Triple sec
1 oz Apricot brandy
2 oz Orange juice
2 oz Sour mix, bottled
1 Rose's lime juice
1 ds 151-proof rum
1 Lemon slice
Cracked ice
Ice cubes
Recipe by: Joe Robertson
I used to share these with my friend Ella Lou,
because she liked girly drinks and I liked
strong drinks. This was an amusing bit of a
compromise. The place we went to was of course
a Chinese restaurant that served a double in a
quart glass for $6 (a large sum of money at the
time). When the place closed (I forget its name)
it became a Bill & Bob's Roast Beef, which I
believe served the community better on the whole.
... Stop constantly saying that kale is better than pizza. It's NOT.
Ah, we knew that.
