From MICHAEL LOO@1:123/140 to NANCY BACKUS on Friday, October 12, 2018 07:28:14
One would hope... of course, HoJo's doesn't even hire any more... ;0
There's one left, not to mention the hotels, one of
which I stayed in a couple years ago. But yeah, I
could have said Applebee's or something equally
    appetizing.
OK.. I've not seen any HoJo's for ages... the one that used to be here
in Rochester has been gone for ages... decades, even...

Not that that's an exceptionally mournable loss. I
used to be an elite member of the Wyndham frequent
hotel-stayer plan, but lately it has gotten rid of
the budget labels I used and started pushing names
like Howard Johnson's. I'm no longer an elite member
    of the plan.

There is that, but to me, chocolatophobia is a symptom
of an underlying deficiency of character.
Some people might think that of someone that doesn't like blue
    cheese.... ;)
I'm not afraid of the flaws in my character but
do not count that as one of them.
[shrug] I doubt that she counts that as a flaw in her character,
either... besides, it's not chocolatophobia, just she doesn't like to
    eat it... (G)

Oh, just a defect of judgment, not of character.

My mistake - the first reports (from Canada, actually)
emphasized the white-people aspect of it.
Ah... they'd be more interested in the fact that they'd finally come to agreement with the US.... I think Mexico and US came to agreement
about two weeks or so before the breakthrough with Canada...

Hard to see what's going on with all the posturing.
It does seem to mean that the central Americans are
going to get the short end of the stick.

As you said above, we'll have to see about that.... and how it all plays out...
Certainly I won't be around to see the long-term
    ramifications.
    Most likely....

Unless medical science gets a lot better really quick.

Turns out that it's a subsidiary of Campbell's.
Speaking of which, did Stewarts and MacDonalds
boycott the soup company because of its heritage?
Never know... perhaps some did... ;)
I'd be inclined to do so if I were an hereditary
enemy of the Campbells of Campbellton as well as
    a sodium-sensitive.
I tend to just not buy it for the latter sorts of reasons...
ingredients... After all, it was Campbell's Healthy [whatever] chicken
soup that had apple juice in it... ;)

Good to keep alert, but one has to remember that
formulas change all the time. Healthy Request soups
do not as of now contain apple products, but who
knows what is going to pop up where and when.

It may be that wonderful... I'm not just that into Amazon or other internet buying... :) and I used a semicolon, not a colon, so it was partly in jest... ;) IIRC, he'd ordered a 4-pack, so he could have spared one bottle... (G)
Not sure about a frowny wink, as it doesn't have
much parallel in real life. Anyhow, it's difficult
for me to see such details.
Sorry... anyway, I use the frowny wink somewhat as a representative of a
    fake pout... ;)

I'm not fond of pouts, fake or real.

True. All finished now.... I may have satisfied the urge for
    now...
    What's next up?
Dunno.... :) Something might present... ;)
Edited to add... so, the tag below came up as the first random choice... how did it know I was sorta thinking of marachino cherries as the
    possible next indulgence....?! (G)
OK, but then I'd start seriously doubting your sanity.
It was those all-natural ones I brought to one picnic, anyway... ;)

    All-natural doesn't mean all-good.

... Unnatural, weirdly industrial, horror food.
Those machines, it's frightening how they get into your
head. Sort of creepily bringing to mind the Ophiocordyceps
fungi that take over insects and other invertebrates.
Hopefully not quite that creepy...... ;0

I'm thinking that if someone can eat maraschino cherries,
    they're not beyond doing anything.

    Refreshing bulghur salad
    categories: Swiss, vegan, starter
    Yield: 1 batch

    8 Tb bulghur
    1 ts vegetable bouillon powder
    1 c water
    1 ripe avocado
    1 scallion, minced
2 sprigs parsley, minced leaves of
    300 g cherry tomatoes
    2 Tb craisins
    h - dressing
    1 Tb olive oil
    1 Tb almond butter
    1/2 Tb white balsamic vinegar
    2 Tb lemon juice
2 ts sweetener such as rice syrup or honey
    1 ts onion powder
    1 ts garlic powder
    1/2 ts chili powder
    salt and pepper
    parsley
    sliced almonds

Simmer bulghur in water and bouillon powder
for 10 min and let cool.

Peel, halve, and stone avocado. Cut the flesh
into small pieces. Combine fruits and
    vegetables in a salad bowl.

Combine all the dressing ingredients and
    correct seasoning.

Mix dressing with bulghur, then combine with
other ingredients. Garnish with parsley and
sliced almonds and serve immediately or keep
    cool up to 2 hr.

I can see where you lost your eliteness.. not enough stays to merit
such... There were some things at the restaurants that were reasonably worthwhile and tasty... but, I'll admit, nothing I sought out... ;)

Pretty sure she wouldn't buy that either, but I'll accept that as

Dunno if there's any further negotiations in the works for them...
nothing I've heard of on the scanty news I hear, anyway...

Exactly... I wasn't buying the Healthy Request soups before my friend discovered the apple presence, and I'm still not likely to buy them, but
I'll agree that one needs to keep on top of the formula changes... :)

and there are some odd ones around... ;)

That could be true of about almost anything... ;)
