I came along after that -- but both of my parents lived through it
(and were married in 1933 before it was really over). In addition to
the frugalness, I think that they had an ingrained adversion to debt.
Gail and I came out of our first years of marriage living with low
budgets and learned a fair amount of frugal behavior that still sticks with us today to some degree.
