From MICHAEL LOO@1:123/140 to NANCY BACKUS on Wednesday, June 06, 2018 01:56:26
So let's do a roll call - definites and likelies.
    Accomodation and transport availability/requirements.
Also demo/menu requests. I'm game to make anything
    short of tamales.
Definite for the whole weekend... I suggested to Lydia that people might

    Figured.

be arriving on Thursday, and not leaving until Monday, and that was fine
with her... She's offering to have homemade soup available for arrivees,
    and serving breakfast Friday morning...

Not that we can't cook for ourselves. Lydia is
the one I thought was cute, right?

    I'll chime in with
    9/7 yes
    9/8 yes
    9/9 yes
    need transportation everywhere
could stay in a hotel if there's no room at the inn
So noted. There should be room at the inn, though... plus I'll have one
    bed available if needed...

If someone by necessity or preference has to
stay at a hotel, I remind everyone that I have
enough points at Hilton and possibly Starwood.
The catch is I should be registered as a guest
in that room even if I'm not staying there.

down... so I'm still a little fuzzy... But it sounded like probably a
half dozen or more, depending on bedding/rooming requirements... I'll
ask her again, and this time make better notes... ;)
This is important information. Nancy, can you
    clarify at this point?
Ok... I sat her down... and wrote it all down... ;) She says that some
of these could be moved to other rooms as needed...
    In the "playroom" (downstairs)
    super-single waterbed (sleeps one)
full/queen futon (sleeps one or two)
    twin bed (sleeps one)
    In an upstairs room
queen high-style airbed (one or two)
    single high-style airbed (one)
    In the "sewing" room (upstairs)
    queen bed (one or two)

That may well take care of our needs.

Also, she said she could go sleep on the other side of the house with
her daughter (what used to be the apartment for our parents), and free
up her king waterbed for another couple of guests...
It sounds to me as though we should be able to accommodate everyone
there, especially as Hafflys will have their camper there for
themselves... There's also a couple of couches.... ;)

Excellent - I often sleep on couches,
sometimes in my clothes, and would be
more than happy to do so if there is a
    dearth of pets.

Although I admit young academic types tend to be
skinny. But the word was that this mountain lion
    was malnourished as well.
So maybe some extenuating circumstances there... ;)

    That's why I don't immediately condemn
    criminals, especially the nonviolent
thieving ones - they may well be starving or
    desperate to feed their families.

    Yesterday I found
    someone sitting in my advantageous seat;
when confronted, he ceded the place, saying "my
bad"- an abomination to the English language.
Quite agreed... to say nothing of being a rather annoying brush off of
any responsibility really for bad behaviour....

It's as if an apology makes bad behavior
automatically okay. News flash: it doesn't.

Turns out he had been assigned a nonreclining
seat and seemed to be trying to pull the wool
over the rightful possessor's (i.e., my) eyes.
Perhaps he's done so in the past, successfully...

According to those who have made
    investigations of the subject, offenders
tend to be repeat offenders, especially
if spurred on by an initial success.

Played second in Op. 74 and first in I think
one of the Mozarts, which was as easy as
falling off a log. Then the first movement
of the Sunrise, but it was someone else who
    pooped out, not me.
Then you didn't do too badly.... the first and third being Haydn,
    perhaps...?

The first being Beethoven - if one doesn't
specify a number, it's Beethoven; Op. 74 of
Haydn are qualified as nos. 1 to 3.
