The falcon cannot hear the falconer, more like.
    Quite possible.
As things do get out of hand.
Seems that's true of a lot of stuff these days. Let's just leave it at
    that.
There are those who would claim that that's our role in life.
Some may think so, probably not the majority of people.
stay in the same role forever.
    Most most probably do.
    Undoubtedly.
Inertia, which almost by definition is our default state,

There's a bunch of that going around, or at least sitting
    around.

The question is how long quality oversight of thst level
can last and to what distance.
They (Wegman's) seem to have done a good job of it so far. Keeping it as
a family owned business has probably helped there.

That's true. I wonder what would happen to the company if
    a subsequent generation cashed out.

But not wholly useless. Like weather forecasts. Speaking
of which, we're only going to be in the 60s today, but
single-digit humidity and 30-mph winds with gusts of 50+
combine to put us on red alert for wildfires. All three
of these were predicted last week for today through Friday
and have come to pass. The good thing is that laundry out
on the line dries in an hour.
Hopefully you won't get caught up in that--keep us updated on the
situation tho. Don't take the time to grab laundry off the line if
you're ordered to get out, however.

I'm back east now, but Lilli of course remains. We
didn't have more than a minor scare, though Chris and Rob,
who lost their house in the I believe it was Cedar Fire

smelled the smoke from a small but temporarily out of
    control fire. So far in the neighborhood nothing really bad;
the destructive stuff has been north of home - part of it
is that there is relatively little brush left.

I wasn't sure what the refernce to Sean was.
Sean, I believe, did some of that kind of work
at one point. I could be mistaken.
    We'll see what he says.

I think he mentioned it once.

    Hi Michael,

Inertia, which almost by definition is our default state,
ensures that this s the case.
My get up and go got up and went--without me. (G)

There's a bunch of that going around, or at least sitting

Happens to the best of us at times.

The question is how long quality oversight of thst level

Not a pleasant thought; I've seen on the news how bad they have been, especially the last few years. It's downright scary how fast they can
move, and change directions so abruptly.

I wasn't sure what the refernce to Sean was.
Sean, I believe, did some of that kind of work

I think he mentioned it once.

OK, and maybe we'll see him next year at the picnic.

I wouldn't if the jar lids were rusted.

And sometimes great ingredients combine into something horrible.

So what would that be used for, other than a frou-frou drink?
