Yeah, those Copper River guys have done an amazing job of marketing.
But it is true that Pacific wild salmon stocks are diminishing in
both our countries and prices are rising every year. I mentioned
overfishing, dams and pollution before but a fourth factor is rising
water temperatures and increased acidity in cool northern waters.
Right now B.C. sockeye, by the time it gets to Yellowknife, is $11
whole, $16 for fillets and $27 for smoked. Even chum fillets are $8.
