From JIM WELLER@1:123/140 to BILL SWISHER on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 22:45:00

Quoting Bill Swisher to Jim Weller <=-

Copper River [...] $60 per pound! It'll probably drop down into
the 40s as the season progresses.

    Pure hype

Yeah, those Copper River guys have done an amazing job of marketing.

But it is true that Pacific wild salmon stocks are diminishing in
both our countries and prices are rising every year. I mentioned
overfishing, dams and pollution before but a fourth factor is rising
water temperatures and increased acidity in cool northern waters.
Right now B.C. sockeye, by the time it gets to Yellowknife, is $11
whole, $16 for fillets and $27 for smoked. Even chum fillets are $8.

    Cheers

    Jim
