up to the limits that society sets, and clearly society
hasn't been hard enough on motorboat operators.
    Indeed, and also quite clearly....
Mines come to mind as well, but they're even noisier.
You mean, to use on them...? SOW, the last day I was up at the Pond
this last trip, we heard some very loud booms... RJ was speculating that someone might be doing some mining in the area...

Taking his Turkey experience and translating it over here?

Could be... If everyone tried to make up in some way for whatever indulgences, perhaps that would be more likely somewhat mitigated, but hard to tell, now...
I do overindulge on meat and travel so can't cast
    too awfully many stones.
Yeah, that sort of thing tends to keep us honest sort honest... ;)

    Or relatively self-aware anyway.

I suspect that, as in houses of worship today, the
instrumental ensembles were for special occasions,
except maybe in the more wealthy and prestigious venues.
Depending on what sort of available talent might be at hand...
especially that willing to volunteer.... :)
I can't even transport my virtual brain that far back.
I'm extrapolating based on current experience in my own house of
    worship...

Thing is we're in a different time and situation, where middle-class
children are encouraged to take music up as a mind-expander rather
than training for a trade. And with transport not being great, and
heating in the winter not being great. circumstances were certainly
more tough for a church music director in olden times.

True, even it usually viewed as being there for conveniemce and
    comfort... ;)
tttt, there have been some to whom entrusting my
safety would have been not so great an idea.
    There is that...

I've seen all sorts. Some have been really good. Some, not so.

I presume so. A lot of it was taking over from Howard
Karten as host of RIME-Cuisine (the network was run by
a brother-sister team the female of which decreed that
moderation was to be called hosting so as to make the
network more friendly than all the others. It didn't
    seem to work).
Ah. And a rose still smells like a rose even if one calls it a
    violet... ;)

Eh, something like that. Others might be inclined to use
    other similes.

I looked it up - turns out that the Quorn people devised a
special vegan recipe for Gregg's. Quorn itself is not vegan,
though the company's publicity claims it is edging in that direction.
Ah... So it wasn't a stretch of the truth, after all....
Perhaps not, but calling the filling quorn-based is
    not quite accurate.
Accuracy giving way to expediency, or something like that... :)

But perhaps the company will have to start living up to
    its publicity. Or perhaps not.

... Instant gratification takes too long.
That's what hard drugs are for.
A logical progression, sad to say...

Speaking of which, the ?disappointment from the nitrous oxide
failure was made up for by what happened after an Advil taken for
shoulder pain - not only was I not in pain, I didn't care if it was
hot or cold, and life was suddenly totally good. This lasted for
the better part of a day and was one of the pleasantest "high"
experiences I've had. It was exceedingly odd and pointed up the
temptation for habitual drugtaking. I've had three total in two
weeks, living dangerously I suppose. The second and third did not
have such a striking effect. Maybe by the time we see each other
I'll have worked my way up to two Advil.

year-round, and for certain school children also free breakfast during
the school year... I'm sure it's low-income based... There's also free
or low-cost meals for seniors at some of the senior centers....
I figure all kids should get the basics free, with
adults paying as they can for themselves and others.
That does seem to be the trend here, anyway...

And that's a good thing, if the community can afford it.

But at some level, the saying is still true, since somebody has to pay
To each according to need, from each according to
ability, the old Communist motto, works well here.
Especially when used in the pure form...

It's such a pity that practicalities get in the way
of theories. It takes only one nutcase to ruin it for
everyone, and when you have two, such as Lenin and Stalin.
    anything goes. Or everything goes.

Taking his Turkey experience and translating it over here?

Don't think so... Driving the roads direct to Potsdam, we had seen some evidence of some massive clearing happening on one large plot of land...
RJ was concerned that someone might have bought it to do some mining,
although he was thinking that another possibility might just have been
some rich dude from downstate planning to put in a large farm... The
sound did seem to be coming from that direction....

Could be... If everyone tried to make up in some way for whatever indulgences, perhaps that would be more likely somewhat mitigated, but hard to tell, now...

At least from our perspective... I do think though of the Bach extended
family, with church (and other) musicians for generations, the training happening in the family, and available for use in the church...

True, even it usually viewed as being there for conveniemce and comfort... ;)

Odd. I never heard of Advil giving a high before... none of them have
done anything for me... except making me dizzy, possibly... not a
    feeling I'd chase after...

Apparently it can... or at least the extended community... :)
