And, better then, than now with the hurricane steaming toward Florida.

Very true... Are they in a fairly safe position...?

Yes, they're about an hour north of Tampa, very inland so they just
    got some wind and rain.

I can remember a time when one of the Gulf hurricanes went up the west
coast of Florida, dumping lots of stuff and damage. Then it got up to
about Tallahasee and turned around and came back down the coast to sock-it-to-them all over again. Don't recall how strong it was though.

Probably about what we're exected to get here
Thrusday night into Friday, be gone by late Friday afternoon. The
storm is supposed to skirt the coast so the area where we used to live
    is under evacuation orders.

Glad that you are spared. Hope nothing happens for the picnic weekend.

I don't think that I have ever had or seen olive bread, but this sounds
like it might be a decent use for left over chicken.

    Title: Chicken-Olive Bread Sandwiches
    Categories: Sandwich, Poultry
    Yield: 1 Recipe

    4 c Chopped / shredded precooked
    - chicken breasts
    5 c Shredded cabbage *
    Chopped green onion
    Pitted, cut-up Kalamata
    -olives or pitted ripe olive
1/2 c White or red wine vinegar
    1/3 c Olive oil
1 tb Grainy or Dijon mustard
    Garlic to taste
    Ground black pepper to taste
    Sliced Olive Bread

    * - Chopped up iceberg lettuce will do if you're in a bind.

This is reminiscent of a sanwich served at Los Angeles' Campanile
restaurant. Pick up cooked boneless, skinless chicken breasts at the
supermarket. Shred or chop them until you have the 4 cups. Mix with
cabbage (or lettuce). Add green onions. Add vinegar, olive oil, and
mustard, along with garlic and pepper. Mix well, and spread between
slices of olive bread. Accompany with fresh tomato slices and potato
salad. The chicken mixture can also be served along tomato and
cucumber slices, or with your choice of assorted fresh veggies.

    Hi Dale,

And, better then, than now with the hurricane steaming toward Florida.

Very true... Are they in a fairly safe position...?

Yes, they're about an hour north of Tampa, very inland so they just
    got some wind and rain.

I can remember a time when one of the Gulf hurricanes went up the west coast of Florida, dumping lots of stuff and damage. Then it got up to about Tallahasee and turned around and came back down the coast to sock-it-to-them all over again. Don't recall how strong it was
    though.

florida got a double whammy that time. They escaped a hit this time tho.
Dorian came ashore at Cape Hatteras this morning about 8:30 but had done
a fair amount of damage along the coast yesterday. There were about a
dozen tornadoes, some flooding and power outages, mostly along the
coastal counties, but reaching a bit inland. Last year Florence did a
lot more damage to NC by just parking over the state for several days.
People in a lot of areas are still putting their lives back together
from that; some will now have to deal with damage from Dorian on top of
that. We had some wind and rain, tho not as much, I don't think, as they
were thinking we would. Yesterday was grey/gloomy all day with off and
on rain, wind picked up more in the evening. Today started clear but
windy but the winds were basically gone by mid day. Don't know what else
is churning out in the ocean but will be keeping our eyes on it over the
    next few weeks.

Probably about what we're exected to get here

    weekend.

We'll be watching, and ready to change plans if needed.

I don't think that I have ever had or seen olive bread, but this

I don't think I've seen it either (have seen olive loaf lunch meat tho)
but the idea of it does sound good.
